O³neida Europe is working with its European members and with interested parties from organisations such as PLC OPEN, to develop modalities for better harmonisation of the IEC 61131-3 standard and the IEC 61499 standard.

This initiative follows on from the 2007 IEC Technical Committee meeting chaired by O³neida member Jim Christensen and attended by Allan Martel, COO O³neida and Elco van der Wall of PLC OPEN, amongst others.

A discussion forum is proposed for an upcoming conference in Magdeburg this spring with follow on activities to be scheduled as per the consensus emerging from this next session.
